Hopping Around

Picture time again.A CH-46 also known as a "frog" in now vintage Point Mugu markings but not over Ventura Co but Palmdale.

"Frog" is a good term for that. It's really is an unattractive aircraft, but fascinating nonetheless! I'm a biplane nut, myself, although I also like those bush-pilot workhorses - DeHavilland Otter and DeHavilland Beaver. Or at laest, they used to be made by DeHavilland - don't know if they still are. But a lot of them are still doing backcountry work in Alaska. Now if I were going to be a pilot - and at one time, I did - I'd be a bush pilot in Alaska! That's adventure!

Glad you feeling better, Joel!

Thanks Kathy, feeling much better.I adore the whole bush flying thing.British Columbia would be my playground. My biplane of choice,DeHavilland Tiger Moth just for fun.I'll post a pic soon from FS.

I'll watch for the picture. The Moth is definitely cool! Have you read any of Richard Bach's books? His early books are all about flying, stories of his flights and experiences while flying. "Gift of Wings" is great, as is "Nothing by Chance" and "Stranger to the Ground". I think you'd really enjoy them. His later books are philosophical (like "Illusions") but his early books are about nothing but flying.

Another of my favorite airplanes is the good ol' Piper Cub! I always think of it as the VW Beetle of the flying world. haha

Oh, yeah - can you recommend to me a fun flying simulator for my computer? Just a general aviation type one. Thanks!

Stearman biplanes are cool, too!

Thanks for bring the books to my attention. Will check them out.

As for a flightsim I use Flight Simulator 2004:A Century of Flight. There is a newer version of FS out now but I have heard mixed reviews about it and won't use it.FS2004 may have a few years on it but it still is going strong,I love it!All my pics are from it.It is the GA (general aviation)flightsim I would recommend all the way."As real as it gets"
Oh,and it comes with a Piper J3 Cub!As well as many others and tons of addons can be download online.I can tell you more about that later.
